2010, with its overlap of physical
dominance and excellent results,
was his best season after all.
As for 2017, while it has
undoubtedly been an incredible
year, it’s probably not the
Spaniard’s best. That being said,
if he does manage to win the ATP
World Tour Finals, a tournament
he has never won, it will give the
year a completely different
perspective.
At the end of the day, it doesn’t
really matter which year was
actually his “best.” All that matters
is that 9 years after first becoming
world number one, Nadal is once
again the king of the tennis world.
There appears to be no end to
Nadal’s mental strength and
capacity to adapt to a constantly
evolving tennis landscape.
Indeed, it would not be surprising
if he is still world number one a
year from now.
