starring Patrick Dempsey. War and
Peace, the final volume of his FDR
at War biography, was published
in May 2019. Forbes magazine has
listed the trilogy as one of its 8 Best
Biographies of All Time.
Jason Hardy
taught high
school English
before getting
his MFA from
Louisiana
State
University. He later became a
probation and parole officer in New
Orleans. He lives in New Orleans
with his wife and is currently a
special agent for the FBI. The Second
Chance Club is his first book.
Cherice
Harrison-
Nelson is
an educator,
narrative
visual and
performance
artist, and arts administrator. As
co-founder/curator of the former
Mardi Gras Indian Hall of Fame,
she coedited 11 publications and
coordinated numerous exhibitions
and panel discussions focused on
West African-inspired cultural
expressions from New Orleans. She
has produced a documentary, music
CD, original plays, and the award-
winning short film, “Keeper of the
Flame.” She has received a Fulbright
Scholarship, Louisiana Endowment
for the Humanities Teacher of the
Year, Mayor’s Arts Award, and 2016
United States Artist Fellowship.

Clarke
“Doc”
Hawley has
had a long
river career
as a riverboat
captain. He
has served as master of three out
of five remaining Mississippi River
steamboats, including the steamboat
Natchez—the last authentic
steamboat on the Mississippi River.
Although Captain Hawley retired
in 1995, he continues to serve the
steamboat Natchez as a substitute
calliope player.
Aimée Hayes
is Producing
Artistic
Director of
Southern
Rep Theatre,
where
she has has focused on new play
development, producing and
directing writers that include
Christine Quintana, John Biguenet,
Zayd Dohrn, Catherine Filloux,
Tarell McCraney, Pamela Davis-
Noland, and Steve Yockey. She has
directed Reykjavik, The Wolves, A
Doll’s House Part 2, Colossal, Airline
Highway, Detroit, Venus in Fur, Red,
Speech & Debate, Grey Gardens, The
Lily’s Revenge, and numerous works
by Tennessee Williams. As an actor
Hayes has played several of Tennessee
Williams’ leading ladies, including
Blanche, Hannah, and Princess.
Greg Herren
is an award-
winning
author and
editor based
in New
Orleans.
He has won two Lambda Literary
Awards, an Anthony Award, two
Moonbeam Medals for excellence
in young adult fiction, and was
short-listed for the Macavity Award
and the Shirley Jackson Award. His
most recent short story collection,
Survivor’s Guilt and Other Stories,
was released in March of 2019, and
his novel, Royal Street Reveillon, was
released in September 2019.
