A Note From the Editor
As I wrap up my final semester, I have had to face the fact that the past four years at Coastal Carolina University have been some of the most stressful but most rewarding years I have lived thus far. I have reached the point in my collegiate career where I have found myself enjoying the late nights spent in the library, the hours spent scouring the various parking lots across campus for a spot, and the inevitable, incredibly humid walk from GG to Edwards each day. Although I would most certainly not have believed it four years ago as a high school graduate adamant about not attending Coastal Carolina University, CCU has become my home. I have had an incredible group of mentors throughout the English department. I had the amazing opportunity to travel to represent our campus across four different states. I found my place within Sigma Kappa, a group of women who inspire( and occasionally mock) me daily. My advice to anyone reading this, whether student or staff, is to continue putting yourself out there. Do and try new things, take chances, try new things just for fun, and embrace each moment. College doesn’ t just move fast; life does.
I want to thank everyone who has helped with TEMPO, our art director Zach Oldaker, digital editor Haley Hanson, advisors Colin Burch and Jeff Case, the writers, the designers, and from the Athenaeum Press, Alli Crandell and Cali Duncan, without their assistance, this publication would not be possible. I would also like to thank Dr. Denise Paster for encouraging me to apply to work for TEMPO, and lastly, my mother, who was right along. Coastal Carolina University was the right choice.
In the wise words of Dr. Steven Hamelman, quoting Back to the Future,“ Tempus Fugit.”
Best,
