Happy Birthday, Fr. Edwin
We continued the tradition of transporting Fr. Edwin’ s table out of his office to commemorate his birthday. Last year, the table wound up at Delbarton, and that was not too interesting. This December, we wanted something a little more meaningful, especially since this school year marks Fr. Edwin’ s 40th year as the Headmaster of St. Benedict’ s Prep. The choice this year was to remember Fr. Edwin’ s time here as a high school student himself. There was some prior preparation needed, and we recruited Mr. Carlo and Fr.
Edwin’ s brother, Mr. Leahy, to help us. The first step was to videotape an interview with Mrs. Leahy, Fr. Ed’ s mother, where she talked about how he used to be as a high school student. Then, the Table was transported in the middle of the night to his childhood home in South Amboy, thanks to Mr. Carlo who is the current occupant of that house. During the presentation during Convocation, Fr. Edwin was very pleasantly surprised at the outcome and the video of his mom. He said that this year’ s choice for the table kidnapping was one of the top three that he has experienced ever since the tradition began.
