When Jared Boone, the 2012-13 Senior Group Leader for St. Benedict’ s, was announced as the Presidential Award Winner, Fr. Edwin was the first to commend his virtues.“ Jared will go down as being among the great Senior Group leaders we’ ve ever had here,” said the Headmaster.“ He was a tremendous benefit for the kids and willing to tell adults on number of occasions to stay out of it and let the kids handle it. He was excellent at the job he did.” I’ m still in shock,” said Boone, the 68th Presidential Award winner.“ I’ m honored. This has been the best four years of my life.”
Among the other Seniors honored during the dinner were Eric Enriquez, this year’ s Valedictorian, who received the Headmaster’ s Award for General Achievement; Trevon Sloan, the Rev. Casimir Finley, O. S. B. Memorial Award for Achievement in Mathematics; Raheem Veal, the John Richard McDonough‘ 58 Memorial Award for Achievement in Humanities and the Thomas J. Hooper Sr.‘ 37 Memorial Award for Journalism; Kenny Paladines, the Abbot Martin J. Burne, O. S. B.‘ 32 Memorial Award for Achievement in Religious Studies.
Also receiving awards were Donald Stokes( Music) and Axell Sanchez( Theater), the Rev. John T. Browne, O. S. B.‘ 47 Memorial Award for Achievement in the Performing Arts; Nnamdi Nwaodoh, the Rev. Maynard G. Nagengast, O. S. B. H’ 94 Award for Achievement in Visual Arts; Olivier Brillant, the John Conlin‘ 41 Memorial Award for Service; Jonah Berkley, the Carl Blake‘ 80 & James Barnes-Hawkins‘ 87 Award for Outstanding Improvement; Brandon Ocampo, the Thomas E. Durkin Jr.‘ 43 Award for Benedictine Spirit; Ahmad Boyd, the Thomas Huss‘ 93 Memorial Award for School Spirit; Ruben Neves, the Rev. Laurence Grassman, O. S. B.‘ 33 Memorial Award for Achievement in Science; Alex Melchor, the Rev. Mark M. Payne, O. S. B.‘ 69 Award for Character & Leadership Development.
