AV Dawson owns and operates the Port of Middlesbrough and works with local schools, colleges and universities to showcase what it’ s like to work for a busy port and discover the different job roles that come with it.
Whether you’ re in Year 9 thinking about your GCSEs, or finishing college and planning your next steps, there’ s something here for you.
As a third-generation, familyrun business that’ s operated in Middlesbrough for more than 87 years, AV Dawson feels it’ s important to support the local community and inspire the next generation of talent.
From work experience placements to careers workshops and mentoring, the business opens its doors and showcases what the business can offer the young people of Teesside.
Louise Croce, director of people and culture at AV Dawson Group, said:“ We want to inspire young people to see what working life is really like.
“ There are more than 100 different job roles here – from engineering and driving HGVs, to office-based roles like marketing and finance. There’ s something for everyone.
“ Our careers workplace events really showcase what we have to offer young people. These events offer hands-on learning of what it’ s like to operate trucks, cranes and forklift trucks.
“ Not only this, but the students are also given the opportunity to meet colleagues and learn about their career journeys and ask them valuable questions.”
