Louis, the apprentice Louis left Outwood Academy Acklam with Grade 5 in maths, English and science, enough to start a Level Three engineering programme. He’ s been with CF for two years and is going from strength to strength.
Joe, the early career changer Joe began his career as a plumbing apprentice and worked in that industry until he was 24.
A WORLD OF OPPORTUNITY
CF works closely with Middlesbrough College and TTE, taking on apprentices from 16.
With apprenticeships including electrical, instrumentation and mechanical engineering, there are various directions that your career at CF could take.
And it’ s not just apprentices. Graduates also join along with career changers.
Furthermore, it’ s not just in the UK – CF is headquartered in and has sites across North America.
Whatever you study at school or college, the early skills you acquire will lay the foundation for working in the chemical industry.
They’ ll translate into practical application and be developed in the workplace with the support of your supervisor, colleagues and mentors.
He then retrained, doing a process apprenticeship at CF and is now progressing up the ranks.
Kayleigh, the female role model After her GCSEs, Kayleigh did two laboratory apprenticeships, completed a foundation degree in chemical technology and then transitioned into engineering.
While continuing to work in the industry, she studied part-time and achieved a first class honours degree in chemical engineering from Teesside University.
She is also a chartered chemical engineer – who said engineering wasn’ t for girls?
Julian, mr mentor Julian has had an incredibly long and successful career, which started when he secured one of 60 coveted ICI apprenticeships that 10,000 applicants applied for!
Some 34 years later he’ s still here and is now mentoring the next generation of engineers.
It’ s a really exciting time for industry in our region and CF is proud to be at the heart of it.
