Your keynote speaker

Marton-raised Deborah is a Teesside University alumni corporate lawyer who has enjoyed a varied career in law for over two decades .
After her call to the Bar in 1999 , she has held significant General Counsel roles at Rolls Royce PLC and Siemens PLC . She has co-founded two # lawtech businesses , has worked with countless high growth technology start-ups , accelerator programmes and tech giants both in Europe and on the US East Coast , and is an early-stage investor . She has keynoted at Harvard , MIT , Google and IBM among many others and has several awards to her name .
She currently represents a large family office in the Middle East , holds a number of private company General Counsel roles and is advisor to the Women ’ s Economic Imperative ( as a response to the Call to Action of the United Nations ).
Despite leaving Teesside some 20-plus years ago , Deborah is still very active in the region supporting start-ups and local businesswomen ’ s groups . She is also a director of The Link Tees
Valley in Redcar , an organisation which supports the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children , young people and their carers .
“ Teesside has always played an important role in the tech sector and the fact that its ecosystem remains vibrant , collaborative and investable is a testament to the infrastructure of support that surrounds it ,” says Deborah .
