There were times when we wondered if this night would ever arrive – and we ’ ve certainly overcome our fair share of Covidrelated challenges to finally make it happen .
Whether you ’ re in Hardwick Hall ’ s Coleman Suite or watching from your office or living room , a big welcome to the second Tees Tech Awards .
As with the first awards , Covid has meant this year ’ s event was postponed and subject to much discussion but now that we ’ re here we plan to make it a memorable occasion .
No fewer than 11 awards will be presented this evening and no one should be in any doubt of just what an achievement it is to win any of the categories .
And the winners were decided in what we believe to be the most democratic of awards judging processes . Category sponsors were able to choose the final three in their category before a panel of five sponsors independently scored the answers of the three finalists . Not even the category sponsors know who has won the awards until they open the envelopes tonight !
In all , we received 115 entries – up from just over 90 last year – from a wide range of the region ’ s digital businesses , large and small , together with nominations from many of the individual stars of the local tech scene .
Our thanks to all our sponsors for supporting tonight ’ s event and making the Tees Tech Awards a reality . A particularly big ‘ Thank you ’ to our headline sponsors , Middlesbrough Digital and DigitalCity , especially to Daniel Watson and David Dixon , who ’ ve given guidance throughout and always remained supportive throughout the challenges we ’ ve faced in delivering the awards .
Thank you also to Wander Films for producing the fantastic films about the finalists that you ’ ll see as part of tonight ’ s awards event and to Storm for their help in delivering the audio-visual delights within the Coleman Suite but also helping us deliver the awards live via YouTube for those who can ’ t be with us in person .
Good luck to everyone tonight . If you ’ re a winner , do enjoy and celebrate your muchdeserved success . If you don ’ t win , however , please don ’ t despair . The quality of the entrants was super-high . Come back next year and try again .
