What do you like most about Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth? As soon as I enter the gates, the staff greet me with a smile and say‘ Good Morning, Paige’ which sets me up for a positive start. Even when I have doubts about coming into school because of worries, the staff are always there to support me. Everyone is welcome!
What work placement do you have? Early Years at a local nursery working with children aged 0 to 4 years.
How many days do you go per week? 2 days work placement and 3 days in school. I started in Year 10 and I am now in Year 11.
What is the best thing about going on work placement? Hands-on experience with children and in a workplace environment, practical learning, developing relationships, feeling part of a team and the opportunity to develop employability skills for my future. I like having a balance of work experience and school studies as it helps me stay more focused when in school, where I am currently on track to achieve my GCSEs.
Which employability skills have you developed? Problem solving, time management, confidence and communication skills.
