PoWerful networking
WORKSHOP INSPIRES STUDENTS
Networking workshops are available to schools across the Tees region .
One such workshop inspired and empowered 40 female students at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College in Darlington .
Hosted by the Power of Women ( PoW ) campaign , the interactive two-hour session focused on the ‘ three Cs of networking ’— confidence , curiosity and connections .
Claire Preston , PoW ’ s head of operations and the first Tees Businesswoman of the Year , led the event . Claire emphasised the importance of stepping out of one ’ s comfort zone , staying curious and building meaningful connections for personal and professional growth .
Students engaged with a panel of 20 successful female professionals , took part in a networking carousel and participated in a Q & A session .
Student Erin Mclone said : “ I came away with new insight on what it means to be empowered , and I feel grateful to the organisation for championing successful women in my local area ; I feel as though I ’ ve gained some really useful skills for the future .”

Her vision was to help improve the lives of women and girls in the Tees Valley , motivated by Plan UK ’ s 2016 report that ranked Middlesbrough as the worst place in England and Wales to grow up as a girl ’.
