VICTORIA ( VIC ) WALLACE
Qualifications : Level 2 and 3 Counselling at Stockton Riverside College , then Alliance supported my development with its own training . I ’ ll soon start Counselling Level 5 , delivered by Stockton Riverside College and accredited by Teesside University .
Role : I ’ m a Lead Mental Health Support Worker . I started off making Parental Initial Contact calls , which are needed to assess what support is needed . My role now includes delivering psychoeducation and evidenced-based psychological programmes in schools , and to parents .
What I enjoy most about the role : I love working with young people in schools , both in a group and on a oneto-one basis , as well as supporting parents and carers . I honestly love every aspect of my job and gain a great sense of satisfaction . And I ’ ve always found Alliance to be an extremely supportive and caring service , building my confidence , self-belief and skills .
Advice : Counselling training requires academic and emotional growth , so embrace every opportunity you ’ re given , put your all into it and follow the process – it ’ s worth it !
NEVER GIVE UP ON SOMETHING YOU ’ RE PASSIONATE ABOUT .”

Qualifications : BSc ( Hons ) Criminology degree at Teesside Uni , a Systemic Family Practice ( SFP ) qualification at Northumbria and in-house training at Alliance .
Role : My role as an SFP involves me working with children , young people and their families . In SFP , we don ’ t advocate blame but work with the family to make positive change for everyone .
What I enjoy most : SFP is so satisfying because you are part of a family ’ s journey . It is so rewarding to see the difference it has on a family and their children ’ s lives . I also get to visit many schools and work with a multitude of professionals , which is lovely . And the staff at Alliance are second to none .
Advice : SFP is fast-paced but is completely worth the effort when you gain the qualification and work with amazing families and young people . Working in mental health services is very rewarding and I believe there will always be a need for this sector .
Qualifications : I studied Psychology , Health and Social Care , and Sociology in college , then a Psychology and Counselling degree at Teesside Uni . I also completed a Skills in Counselling certificate , then attended Northumbria University to become a qualified education mental health practitioner ( EMHP ) with Alliance .
Role : As an EMHP , I work directly with children and young people , but also with schools , parents and carers .
What I enjoy most : I love working closely with young people to really understand and get to know them , and to see them grow and gain confidence . And at Alliance , everyone is always very welcoming , kind and supportive .
Advice : Never give up on something you ’ re passionate about . I ’ ve wanted to work in this area since I was around 13 and have faced some challenges , but it has all been worth it . It can be hard work , but if you know what you want to do , go for it !
WORKING IN MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES IS VERY REWARDING
