he ports and maritime sector is one of the biggest industries in the UK , responsible for bringing almost everything we eat and buy from supermarket shelves safely into the country from across the globe .
But the industry is often a hidden one , with many people having no idea of the scale of the ports on their doorstep or the huge variety of jobs they can offer .
Teesport is the sixth-largest port in the UK , importing and exporting millions of pounds worth of products each year and supporting thousands of jobs across the local supply chain .
But we know that most young people in the region don ’ t even know where Teesport is , let alone how they could get a job there .
I joined PD Ports earlier this year as the early careers lead , supporting our entrylevel talent across the business who are completing apprenticeships . I also run programmes to get the word out across Teesside about the port sector and the amazing choice of jobs and career paths we have to offer .
