TEES LIFE Carole takes up full-time Tees Life role T ees Life publishers Resolution have taken on their first permanent full- time employee to help drive forward growth plans. The Middlesbrough-based publishers have appointed experienced saleperson Carole Sanderson, who started her new role in January. Carole, who originally trained in sales with the Gazette, has spent the last 15 years working as advertising sales manager for Stockton-based Primary Times magazine. Resolution revealed last year that it planned to take on full-time staff to support plans for new publications in 2019. And Resolution directors Martin Walker and Dave Allan hope Carole will be the first of a number of new members to join the team. Carole, who is married with one daughter and lives in Stockton, said: “After working for the last 15 years for Primary Times in the Tees Valley, I’m really looking forward to the Carole Sanderson has joined the Resolution Media and Publishing team alongside directors Dave Allan (left) and Martin Walker. new challenge of working for Tees Life and Tees Business magazines. “I’ve always been very impressed by the high quality of both magazines including the editorial and photographic content, and I regularly hear positive comments about the publications from businesses in our area. “Working for Dave and Martin as part of their team will enable me to progress my career even further and, together, I feel we can achieve great things.” Carole worked in telesales for the Gazette in the 1980s and became a sales trainer during her time with the local paper. She has since held various sales and administrative roles for firms around Teesside before joining Primary Times in 2003. Resolution co-director Dave said: “We’re delighted to have brought Carole on board. “Her track record of delivering sales in her previous role was an obvious strength which immediately stood out. “As we look to strengthen both Tees Life and Tees Business along with the Tees Businesswomen Awards and other publications in 2019, we’re confident Carole will become a valuable member of the team and, hopefully, the first of many in the near future.” Ex-Gazette boss also joins Tees Life R esolution Media and Publishing has also appointed former Gazette boss and Trinity Mirror regional managing director Bob Cuffe as a non- executive director. The move is designed to help Resolution to build on existing publications while rolling out new projects. Cuffe, who was awarded the MBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours, has more than 30 years’ experience in publishing, working from advertising representative at the Teesside Gazette to managing director of the Gazette and regional managing director at Trinity Mirror North East. He’s now working for a small number of local firms in similar consultancy roles, including Darlington Building Society (as vice chair), Jacksons Law and Recognition PR. “I’m delighted to be joining Dave, Martin and the team,” he said. “Their achievements since launch have been outstanding and I look forward to helping them accelerate their ambitious plans.” Middlesbrough-based Resolution – named after Captain Cook’s HMS Resolution – was launched in early 2017 after the success of Resolution Media and Publishing directors Dave Allan (left) and Martin Walker with the firm’s new non-executive director Bob Cuffe (right). Now with two established quarterly publications, they’re printing an annual 3.4m pages of news and features covering the Tees region, and also successfully launched the Tees Businesswomen Awards – the first awards event to recognise the Tees region’s businesswomen. Resolution’s printing work supports Middlesbrough-based MV Print and its 22 employees, while they also support a pool of more than 10 local freelance photographers, writers and a graphic designer. tees-life.co.uk 37
