T
eenagers from a Tees school were
given an insight into commercial
branding when the new local
Teesside Porsche Centre invited them to
design a wrap for one of its famous models.
Porsche worked with year nine and ten
students from Yarm School to come up with
the best wrap designs for the much-loved
and iconic 911.
With expert advice from Porsche Teesside
Centre principal Ross Jameson and motor
wrap specialists Wrap Monkey, students were
asked to come up with designs inspired by
Help for Heroes.
Porsche Teesside donated £500 to the
services veterans’ charity as students came up
with a variety of eye-catching designs, with
Ken and Maren Nash from Help for Heroes
there on the evening to receive the donation.
Maddy Jackson’s poppy-inspired design
was voted as one of the standout creations,
and Porsche duly wrapped one of its 911s
in her design, with Mia Mack’s artistic
graffiti-style design also being selected to be
wrapped onto a children’s 911 pedal car.
“It was a lovely project, with such an
exciting brand, something the students can
really relate to,” said Yarm School’s head of
art Liz Stebbings.
“We treated them like they were all
professional designers when coming up with
an idea for Ross and the Porsche brand.
“The group was 50-50 girls and boys, and
they all had great fun. The boys particularly
enjoyed the car element to it. It inspired all
of them.
“They were allowed to be as
creative as possible and the end
results were truly stunning.”
“They were inspired by the brand and the
car, but the designs came from all different
kinds of origins and inspirations.”
Ross added: “We wanted to connect with
local children and the community, to give
them the opportunity to engage with us as
a brand whilst doing something that wasn’t
about selling or maintaining cars, but instead
getting young people to be creative and have
fun working on a project.
“I went down to the school on a number

of occasions to talk about Porsche, what the
brand represents and its history.
“They’ve learned a lot about the brand as
well as the cars. They were allowed to be as
creative as possible and the end results were
truly stunning.
“We tied Help for Heroes into the project –
not just with a donation of £500, but by asking
the children to use the charity for inspiration,
and the poppies certainly came through loud
and clear in Maddy’s design!”
