He said it was important to consider the impact on roads, parking and integration with public transport and suggested liaising with bus companies early to begin planning bus routes. As with the development of the nearby Grey Towers Village estate, on Dixons Bank, Nunthorpe, the plans for further housing is likely to raise concerns over traffic and pressure on local services. With the total number of homes at Grey Towers Village reaching 411, a number of objections have been raised about increased strain on already congested roads, including the so-called "Marton Crawl", oversubscribed schools and a lack of facilities such as shops. Closing the meeting, committee chair Cllr Charlie Rooney said: “The masterplan itself is really good. “That there’s seven acres of open space for the use of the community and the surrounding community is excellent. “This sort of design should be applied to all our future masterplans.” The committee approved the masterplan for consultation. Plans for new 250-home Nunthorpe development A masterplan for a major Nunthorpe housing development has been unveiled. Nunthorpe Grange Farm is the name given to a planned future housing development south of Nunthorpe Squash and Tennis Club on Guisborough Road. The land has been allocated for up to 250 predominantly three-and four-bedroom detached and semi-detached houses. A masterplan has been drawn up by Middlesbrough Council to “set the bar” for what it says will be a “premier housing site”. The plan, which was put before a meeting of Middlesbrough Council’s executive sub- committee for property, says: “The vision for Nunthorpe Grange is to create a unique and distinctive extension to the community of Nunthorpe. “Nunthorpe Grange is to take a contemporary approach to maintaining and promoting the high-quality standards of Nunthorpe which have been in place for over a hundred years.” tees-life.co.uk 33
