Weddings at Acklam Hall

Acklam Hall is proving to be the perfect fairy-tale wedding setting for a growing number of discerning Teesside couples.

The magnificent Grade I listed Acklam Hall – unique within the Tees Valley – offers a majestic backdrop for the bride and groom’ s big day. Its choice of banqueting suites, manicured gardens, sumptuous food and first-class service are proving to be a winning combination for couples looking to tie the knot with a touch of class.

Whether you are planning an intimate gathering or larger celebration, you can be sure that its magnificent rooms and sumptuously decorated dining rooms will not fail to impress your guests.
But commercial manager Anna Winkworth believes Acklam Hall’ s USP to be his team’ s ability to offer a truly bespoke wedding. The team at the Middlesbrough venue believe in offering a personal service from your first call, right through the planning stage to the day itself, staying with you every step of the way.
They will discuss, advise and ensure that every detail is covered and tailored to ensure that your wedding reception is all you could hope for.
“ We are unique,” says Anna, recently appointed to her role to cope with growing demand for Acklam Hall’ s services.“ We have a variety of wedding packages, of course, but each can be amended to suit our clients. We spend time listening to the bride and groom to ensure their day is everything they wish for.
“ We offer the most bespoke weddings, with an absolute professionalism and attention to detail whilst providing couples with luxury they can afford.
“ As a result, nearly every wedding we host has something
different about it. Our weddings have featured a ceilidh and an Alice in Wonderland theme, we’ ve had singing waiters, a brass band, and guests playing everything from croquet to giant Jenga on our lawns.“ Quite simply, we love to host weddings!” Acklam Hall offers an exciting blend of heritage and splendour, with the elegant Parlour proving a popular choice for wedding services, while the Grand Drawing Room can hold up to 120 guests for larger receptions.
Acklam Hall took its first bookings before refurbishment work on the historic home had even been completed. Managing director Michael Jones smiles at the memory:“ We even had our events manager Kelly giving brides and grooms-to-be tours of the hall in hard hats and hi-vis jackets, so keen were they to be among the first to hold their wedding day here. They put their faith in us to deliver without being able to see the hall in all its glory.
“ We’ ve enjoyed phenomenal growth ever since. In our first year of operation, we hosted nine weddings. This year, our second, we’ ll do 30, and our projection is to increase that to 40 next year.“ It’ s our aim to be recognised as one of the leading wedding venues, not only on Teesside but across the entire North-East.”
Soon after Acklam Hall opened as a restaurant and wedding venue, the first bride in 100 years walked through an ancient adjoining gate between the 17th Century building and the neighbouring St Mary’ s Church, where she had wed moments earlier.
Many more magic moments have followed – while Michael and his team look forward to hosting many more in the future.
