"Northallerton keeps going from strength to strength." salon and the customers love it.” After a brief spell in a temporary unit during a refurbishment, Fiori are now back in the unit they’ve come to call their own over the past 16 years. In fact, a florist has occupied the spot for more than half a century. “I can’t fault the new unit,” says owner Brenda Jefford, whose business specialises in wedding bouquets, hand-tied arrangements, plants and all manner of flower arrangements. “The customers are pleased and have given us positive feedback. It needed doing but I’m delighted it’s been finished off to the highest standard. “I’m sure it will bring us more passing trade too because it’s a lovely little mews. In the long run, I’m sure it will attract more people into this area of the town.” roperty specialist Joe Darragh believes Mandale’s five- star renovation of Regency Mews has breathed new life into a popular end of Northallerton High Street. New and existing businesses are thriving in the popular retail walkthrough – but there’s still time for more to join them. Although the refurbished units have proved popular, four remain available, with dimensions ranging between 240 sq ft and 530 sq ft. As part of the redevelopment, Mandale also constructed 14 luxury apartments to encourage more town-centre living. Such was their popularity, they sold within seven days of the show suite opening. “Northallerton has won a reputation as a lovely place to live and visit,” said Joe. “Everyone at Mandale is a big fan of the town – and we have a real affinity with Regency Mews, which we’ve owned for many years.” But Joe is convinced Mandale’s investment was much needed for a town centre that’s struggled in a similar way to many across the length and breadth of the country. “Last time I counted, there were 12 shops vacant on the High Street,” he said. “Just 20 years ago that was unheard of. “We feel the High Street looks a little bit unloved so we were keen to invest money into it and create a real feature. I’m confident the new shopping arcade will give it a real boost. “We’re keen to attract those sort of quirky, specialist and boutique shops that people love to visit. “We’re excited about what we’ve created – and so too are the existing clients who are thrilled about the prospect. I think we’re all in agreement that the town has been given a real boost.” To view the remaining units at Regency Mews, contact Joe Darragh at Mandale on 07973 098599 or email [email protected]. tees-life.co.uk 37
