NEWS I NTRODUC ING TH E Education Training Collective New college group incorporates Stockton Riverside College, Redcar and Cleveland College, Bede Sixth Form, NETA Training and The Skills Academy I f you’re not yet familiar with the Education Training Collective (Etc.), then let us explain. It’s the new corporate name for a Tees Valley college group. The name has been introduced to more accurately reflect the diversity of the college campuses and it marks the culmination of an exciting first year since the decision was taken to merge Stockton Riverside College and Redcar and Cleveland College last summer. Here’s a snapshot… Bede Sixth Form College Raising aspirations and providing opportunities for students to reach their potential is a fundamental part of the vision at Bede Sixth Form College. The Billingham college offers a wide range of A-Level, Applied Generals and A-Level equivalent courses and has introduced some higher education courses for adult learners in the legal sector. Supporting sporting excellence, Bede is a TASS-accredited college. This summer they celebrated a 99% A-Level pass rate and 99% of students progressed to positive destinations. NETA Training NETA Training has a longstanding reputation for delivering quality training with its team of experts, using industry- standard equipment. It offers engineering, construction and maintenance training to students and industry professionals. From its two sites in Stockton, students are prepared for the technical and safety 6 skills required by today’s workplace. NETA is currently in the running for two prestigious national training awards. Redcar and Cleveland College Just one year since merger and Redcar and Cleveland College has seen increased student attendance, retention and aspirations. The further education college, which offers a wide variety of vocational courses, apprenticeships and higher education opportunities, is building strong links with employers and schools, reaffirming its place at the heart of its community. Stockton Riverside College A vibrant further education college, Stockton Riverside College offers a wide range of courses, apprenticeships and training opportunities. It has a reputation for successful collaboration with employers and local authorities across the Tees Valley, as can be seen with the launch of the North East Shipping School in partnership with the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. It also has a strong reputation for musical theatre and 2020 will see the launch of the Stockton Riverside Academy of Performing and Technical Arts. The Skills Academy With a focus on practical learning, delivered in a calm and friendly learning environment, The Skills Academy offers introductory courses for those aged 16 to 18. It is the ideal environment to build the confidence and skills students need to progress to further study or an apprenticeship. Working with the local authority and schools across the borough, The Skills Academy has just launched a new full-time alternative provision for 14 to 16-year-olds.
