I
f you’re not yet familiar with the
Education Training Collective (Etc.),
then let us explain. It’s the new corporate
name for a Tees Valley college group.
The name has been introduced to more
accurately reflect the diversity of the college
campuses and it marks the culmination of
an exciting first year since the decision was
taken to merge Stockton Riverside College
and Redcar and Cleveland College last
summer.
Want to know more? Here’s a snapshot…
Bede Sixth Form College
Raising aspirations
and providing
opportunities for
students to reach
their potential is
a fundamental
part of the vision
at Bede Sixth
Form College. The
Billingham college
offers a wide
range of A-Level,
Applied Generals and A-Level equivalent
courses and has introduced some higher
education courses for adult learners in the
legal sector.
Supporting sporting excellence, Bede is
a TASS-accredited college. This summer
they celebrated a 99% A-Level pass rate
and 99% of students progressed to positive
destinations.
NETA Training
NETA Training has a longstanding
reputation for delivering quality training
with its team of experts, using industry-
standard equipment. It offers engineering,
construction and maintenance training to
students and industry professionals.
From its two sites in Stockton, students
are prepared for the technical and safety
6
skills required by today’s workplace. NETA is
currently in the running for two prestigious
national training awards.
Redcar and Cleveland College
Just one year since merger and Redcar and
Cleveland College has seen increased student
attendance, retention and aspirations.
The further education college, which
offers a wide variety of vocational courses,
apprenticeships and higher education
opportunities, is building strong links with
employers and schools, reaffirming its place
at the heart of its community.
Stockton Riverside College
A vibrant further education college,
Stockton Riverside College offers a wide
range of courses, apprenticeships and
training opportunities. It has a reputation
for successful collaboration with employers
and local authorities across the Tees Valley,
as can be seen with the launch of the North
East Shipping School in partnership with the
Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers.
It also has a strong reputation for musical
theatre and 2020 will see the launch of the
Stockton Riverside Academy of Performing
and Technical Arts.
The Skills Academy
With a focus on practical learning, delivered
in a calm and friendly learning environment,
The Skills Academy offers introductory
courses for those aged 16 to 18. It is the ideal
environment to build the confidence and
skills students need to progress to further
study or an apprenticeship.
Working with the local authority and
schools across the borough, The Skills
Academy has just launched a new full-time
alternative provision for 14 to 16-year-olds.
