£ 24M PLANS COULD CREATE 450 JOBS IN GUISBOROUGH Multi-million-pound plans to redevelop a diminished industrial site in Guisborough could create as many as 450 new jobs in the region.
Cramlington-based Ryedale Estates, a family owned professional company of surveyors, valuers and estate agents, is leading the development of the 20-acre site known as Cleveland Gate.
The £ 24m plans would transform the site, which includes the former ESCO Corporation foundry that closed in 2014 with the loss of 65 jobs, into 31,000 sq ft of retail space, 28,700 sq ft of workshop and employment space, 25,000 sq ft of offices, 20 bungalows for the over 60s and 115 family homes.

HOME EXPO RETURNS TO THE RIVERSIDE STADIUM The North East Home Expo returns to the Riverside Stadium in Middlesbrough this year, providing a premier showcase to Teesside homeowners looking to make their dream home visions a reality.
Keen to build on the success of 2015, the expo has expanded further, after the feedback from visitors who visited the inaugural event last year.
The event, being held on October 7 and 8, allows members of the public to learn more about self-building a new house, an option that more and more people are looking in to as an alternative, rather than moving or expanding their existing home.
The Tees Renewable Energy Plant will create 600 construction jobs and 100 permanent jobs.

£ 650m energy plant will create hundreds of jobs

A

new £ 650m energy plant on Teesside is set to create hundreds of jobs.
MGT Power has finalised funding for its Tees Renewable Energy Plant near Middlesbrough.
The factory, at Teesport, between Redcar and Middlesbrough, will be one of the world’ s largest biomass power stations, providing electricity for 600,000 homes by burning wood chips and pellets imported predominantly from the US.
At least 600 jobs will be created during construction and about 100 full time jobs sustained on site once operational plus several hundred more in the supply chain – many in the local region.
Biomass discharge services will be provided by PD Ports through the port of Teesport.
Ben Elsworth, CEO of MGT Teesside, said:“ We can’ t wait to get work started on site and make this project a huge success for the Teesside region”.
Project developer MGT Power announced in July 2015 that it was partnering with Macquarie Capital and Macquarie
Commodities and Financial Markets to deliver the project.
Macquarie, together with Danish pension fund PKA, will now become the joint owners of MGT Teesside, which will own and manage the Tees REP.
The project will cost approximately £ 650m to construct and will be built under a turn-key“ engineering, procurement and construction” contract by a consortium of Tecnicas Reunidas of Spain and Samsung Construction and Trading( SCT) of South Korea.
Work on the site was expected to start by the Autumn and commercial operations are due to start in 2020.

TEES BID FOR £ 1.8 BILLION

Tees Valley Combined Authority and Tees Valley Unlimited( TVU) have submitted a bid for funding from the Government to support projects which will deliver jobs and investment in Tees Valley.

The Combined Authority and TVU have jointly bid for a share of the £ 1.8 billion of support available from Government’ s Local Growth Fund to enable private sector growth and unlock private sector investment.
The proposed programme focuses on six
key themes, including research development and innovation, business growth, economic infrastructure, culture, skills and transport.
If supported by government the programme would lever in over £ 300m of private sector investment into Tees Valley and the North, and in turn drive job creation and investment.
It would create and safeguard almost 10,000 jobs.
More than £ 96m was secured from LGF rounds 1 and 2.
