Teesside’ s most outstanding businesspeople – as voted for by you
I was born and brought up in Norton, Stockton, where I still live today, and I’ m incredibly proud of my roots.
That’ s why we’ ve supported Tees Business from the beginning, and embraced the positive message it tries to send out across the area. I believe that, despite the huge set-back of the SSI closure last year, there’ s generally a good, strong vibe around the Teesside business community.
Indeed, you only have to go to games at the Riverside Stadium to see the tangible investment Middlesbrough FC has made there. Steve Gibson has issued a real statement of intent over the summer and I believe it can only help to build confidence, with our football club leading by example. I used to go to Ayresome Park as a youngster and now I take my young family as season ticket holders in the West Stand, where we’ ve been going for many years, and it’ s fantastic to see us back in the Premier League. It’ s certainly a great time to be a Boro fan.
I hope the club’ s success can rub off on the whole Teesside area and it helps to breed business and consumer confidence across the region. It’ s fantastic to see the Boro featuring so strongly in this issue of Tees Business.
At Mill Volvo, we’ re investing heavily in our Stockton showroom, which has undergone a £ 750,000 refurbishment. It’ s the first of four dealerships in the North-East to undergo major improvements so, again as a Teessider, I’ m very proud to see us deliver that at our Preston Farm site.
We’ ll be hosting a series of open-door events when we’ ll be delighted to show visitors around and have some exciting new Volvo cars on display, including the new S90 and V90.
I hope you enjoy this issue of Tees Business – and we look forward to reading many more issues in the future.
