Lawyer turns hobby into labour of love for charity A lawyer has put his photography hobby to good use after his images were used to produce a 2017 planner to raise cash for a Teesside charity. Nick Dent is head of the education team at Endeavour Partnership as well as being an experienced governor at King’s Academy in Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough. He’s also a keen runner and photographer, and has used his eye for an image to capture a number of stunning pictures to produce a fundraising planner for 2017, copies of which are now on sale. Earlier this year, staff at Endeavour Partnership took on the challenge of raising £10,000 for the Prince’s Trust. Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation has also pledged to match-fund Endeavour’s final fundraising figure. As part of their efforts, the firm has produced – using Nick’s images – a striking 2017 planner featuring some of the most iconic images of Teesside. Nick, who took up photography five years ago, said: “It was a case of trying to get the right kind of images to not only represent the local landmarks, but also the seasons. “Luckily I already had a lot of images on file I’d already taken, but for others I went out specifically to shoot just for the planner, but it was a labour of love. “I was very proud to see them in full colour, and also knowing they’re going out to local businesses and hanging on people’s walls. Earlier this year, staff at Endeavour Partnership took on the challenge of raising £10,000 for the Prince’s Trust. “But the main thing is it’s making money for a fantastic cause.” The 2017 planner features 12 stunning images of well-known Teesside landmarks and views, including Roseberry Topping, Staithes, Norton Green, the Transporter Bridge, South Gare, Saltburn, Whitby and the Newport Bridge. Cash from sales of the planners, which cost just £10 each, will support Fairbridge, the Middlesbrough centre of the Prince’s Trust, located close to the Transporter Bridge, which provides training and educational opportunities for 16 to 25-year-olds. Endeavour associates Martin McKinnell and Catherine Devereux are responsible for the firm’s corporate and social responsibility and charitable giving. Catherine said: “A lot of hard work has gone into the 2017 planners and we’re delighted with the end product. “Thanks to the generous sponsorship of several businesses, every penny from the sales of the planners will go directly towards our fundraising total, so we’re hopeful this will help us reach our goal of hitting our £10,000 target before the end of the year.” The planner has been sponsored by a number of firms including JT Atkinson, Anglo Scottish Asset Finance, Altec Engineering, Devereux Transport, ITS, Crystal Galleries, Sound Training, Begbies Traynor, Active Chartered Financial Planners, Intelect, Handelsbanken and the Build Directory. Only 500 copies of the planners are available – those interested in ordering copies can do so online at www.endeavourpartnership.com
