How Sanderson Weatherall’ s new office transformed their business Teesside branch of national firm is“ re-energised” after move to high-spec offices
A
national firm’ s Teesside branch is thriving a year after relocating to new high-spec offices in Stockton.
Sanderson Weatherall is a leading national firm of UK Chartered surveyors, property consultants and business asset advisors.
Its Teesside team moved to second floor, 1,532 sq ft space in Roseberry House on Bowesfield Park, Preston Farm, a year ago – a move which has transformed its property business.
Matthew Clarke, head of valuation at Sanderson Weatherall Teesside, said:“ On paper, our move to Roseberry House was providing an upgrade in terms of a newer property with a high specification, but in practice our new office has changed our team dynamic, and the way we work.
“ We spend more time in our workplace than anywhere else. There’ s no doubt we are all influenced by our surroundings, and feeling proud of where you work ultimately impacts the work you produce.
“ I think the new, higher spec office reenergised our surveyors, which strengthened us as a team and as a leading local firm.”
The firm’ s own in-house architects and building surveyors transformed the space into a Sanderson Weatherall office.
David Fairley, head of building consultancy at Sanderson Weatherall Teesside, added:“ Our iconic dark blue covers a feature wall by the entrance, so there’ s no doubt when people arrive at the office of where they are.
“ We also commissioned a local photographer, who took a fantastic shot of the Infinity Bridge, which now sits proudly on our meeting room wall.
“ A single floorplate was the only option for us, and our space in Roseberry House is the perfect layout for open plan working. As a full service property firm, our clients tend to be using multiple services and surveyors at the same time. Being positioned in one space allows us to work collaboratively, and ultimately gives our clients a better, more efficient service.
“ We opted for facing desk pods for each team, and then a sofa style break out area for when our surveyors want a change of scenery.
“ There’ s definitely a trend of hot desking at the moment, but we decided against that, wanting to offer everyone a space of their own in the office.”
Clarke also explains how the move has enabled the business to be more environmentally friendly.
“ It was also the perfect time for us to look at the way we work, and see if we could make any changes,” he says.
“ A year on, I’ m proud to see we’ ve significantly reduced our use of paper. By investing in new technology to allow us to work with less paper, and discouraging printing by simply having less spaces to leave bits of paper, our carbon footprint is definably shrinking.
“ I took our green credentials one step further when I spotted an electric car charger in our new car park, and so ordered a hybrid car!”
