Turnover up to £ 13.5m for award-winning recycling firm
J & B Recycling managing director Vikki Jackson-Smith is celebrating after another strong year.
A
recycling firm has double reason to celebrate after being named as the winner of two global awards – just after reporting an annual turnover increase.
Tees-based J & B Recycling was named as the winner of Most Outstanding in Recycling Solutions in the annual Corporate LiveWire Awards, retaining the honour won in the same competition last year.
The company, which operates from a headquarters in Hartlepool and runs a neighbouring site in the town as well as a third facility in Middlesbrough, was also crowned as the winner of the Recycling category of the 2016 Oil & Gas awards.
Those awards are handed out in recognition of the businesses across the UK which have continued to cope well with the fluctuating markets in the oil and gas sector

J & B Recycling recycles up to 130,000 tonnes of waste each year from household, commercial, industrial and construction sources as well community buildings, pubs and restaurants.
The firm now employs more than 200 staff across both sites in Hartlepool and Middlesbrough.
MULTI-MILLION POUND DEAL PROTECTS 50 JOBS
A fire risk management firm has announced the signing of multi-million pound contracts involving three of the world’ s largest chemical, plastics and bulk storage companies with plants on Teesside.
Hartlepool-based CFB Risk Management says the contracts will provide industrial fire and rescue safety services to Ineos Nitriles( UK), Navigator Terminals and Huntsman Tioxide at their neighbouring sites on Seal Sands.
Under a shared service agreement, CFB Risk Management will give the companies round-the-clock asset protection 24 / 7 whilst delivering added value and significant financial savings.
For CFB Risk Management the contract will safeguard 50 permanent jobs as well as creating new posts and boosting the company’ s apprenticeship scheme with more opportunities for the young unemployed on Teesside.
Hartlepool’ s prestigious business awards have been officially opened – and organisers are appealing for companies from across the town to enter.
The winners will be revealed at the prestigious awards evening in the Borough Hall on May 11.
Companies now have the chance of securing their gongs by submitting entries.
Submissions will be whittled down to a shortlist of three in each of the 10 categories with the overall Business of the Year Award being selected from the winners of each category.

Stadium Group snaps up firm in £ 750,000 deal
Hartlepool-based Stadium Group, a supplier of wireless solutions, power supplies and electronic assemblies, has acquired Essex-based Cable Power in a £ 750,000 deal.
For the year ended December 2016, the Colchester manufacturer and distributor of bespoke cable and power products recorded sales of £ 700,000.
Cable Power’ s customers include RS Components, Rapid Electronics, Farnell, CPC and Raspberry Pi, with whom it has exclusivity for several accessories, including HDMI cables, power connectors and other accessory bundles.
The business will join Stadium’ s Power division, Stadium Stontronics, which announced in March 2016 that it had become the only approved external power supply manufacturer for the Raspberry Pi 3.
£ 1.2 million trampoline park to create 40 new jobs
Jump 360, the North East-based trampoline park, has opened a new £ 1.2 million venue in Hartlepool.
The Hartlepool branch, located at Sovereign Park near the Tees Bay Retail Park, is the second Jump 360 venue in the region, and has created 40 new jobs.
The new 30,000 sq ft indoor trampoline park features giant foam pits, dodgeball courts and basketball slam-dunk lanes alongside a brand-new overhang rockclimbing activity.
The Fun Shack Group currently employs 110 people across the company, all based in the North East.
