Tickets going fast for Teesside charity fundraiser
An incredible night of Teesside sport is in store when Boro legends John Hendrie and Craig Hignett are joined by athletics superstars Chris Tomlinson and Richard Kilty plus new world darts champion Glen Durrant for a Sportsmen’ s Dinner on Friday, April 7.
Organised by Teesside Philanthropic Foundation, the unique event will feature a combined talk by Boro heroes Hendrie and Hignett, respectively the scorers of the last league goal at Ayresome Park and the first at the Riverside Stadium.
On the same bill three-times Olympian Tomlinson, the former British long jump record holder, will be joined by the outspoken Kilty, the World 60m champion and 2016 Olympic finalist.
Also in attendance will be recently crowned BDO World Darts Champion Durrant, from Middlesbrough, who will be bringing along the gleaming trophy so sports fan can get a close up look.
Hosted by Boro fan and radio regular Gary Philipson, the charity’ s first ever Sportsmen’ s Dinner is certain to be a memorable night of sport and banter.
All funds raised will go towards the Foundation’ s FAST Fund – Financial Assistance for Sportspeople on Teesside – inspiring talented locals to reach the very top in their chosen sport.
Among those to have received FAST Fund grants are Paralympian footballer Matt Crossen and international athlete Matty Hynes, who will both be in attendance on the night.
Others to have benefited from the unique fund include Paralympic wheelchair racer Jade Jones and Middlesbrough powerchair footballers Jo McNicol and Owen Swift.
Taking place at Jury’ s Inn, Middlesbrough, on Friday, April 7, tickets for the event are £ 49 each or £ 490 per table.

Ladies who lunch
Teesside Philanthropic Foundation is holding the latest in its successful series of Ladies’ Lunches at Acklam Hall on Thursday, April 6.
Guest speaker at the fundraiser will be Liz Ramshaw, owner of the brilliantly named, The Gingerbread Mam.
Liz started her business in 2010 as a result of a passion for food and drink- and a love of cooking.
It was a hobby which started with a stall at a farmers ' market that has turned into a full-time successful business, supplying farm shops, deli’ s and the department store, Fenwick’ s in Newcastle.
Tickets, including a welcome drink and three-course lunch with wine, are priced £ 35.
