A busy summer at Teesside International
This summer has seen one of the busiest
periods in the airport’s recent history, not
only as it kick-started its 10-Year Rescue
Plan, but also in passenger and aircraft
numbers.
In May, Teesside International saw the
start of its first summer holiday charter
flights to Bourgas, Bulgaria, with Balkan
Holidays.
The 16-week programme has seen such
a high level of interest and sales from
Teessiders that the company committed
very early on to offer the same holiday
flights in 2020.
Aviation development continued with an
announcement that JetsGo Holidays will
launch a summer programme of flights
in 2020 to one of the UK’s most popular
holiday destinations – Palma, Majorca.
These flights can be booked now from
only £75 per person. Book now at www.

But it’s not only the summer sun
flights that are flying out, KLM Royal
Dutch Airlines’ multiple daily service to
Amsterdam, which provides critical global
connectivity for both business and leisure
passengers, is showing month-on-month
growth compared to last year.
July was a particularly important month, as
the airport formally returned to its original and
much-loved name of Teesside International
Airport.
The new brand, which was developed in-
house at the Tees Valley Combined Authority,
was styled after an aeroplane’s tail fin, an
instantly recognisable, universal icon for air
travel. Within the fin is a stylised representation
of Roseberry Topping, a significant regional
landmark that can be seen from points within
every borough.
The contour lines of the hill also represent
the journey of a plane from take-off to landing,
with the curves also suggesting forward
momentum through the air.
These colours are bright and modern, but
almost identical to the airport’s previous, well-
known identity, playing upon nostalgia and
linking to the reintroduction of its former name.
For the first time in 15 years, passengers
are flying into Teesside International with a
renewed sense of place, and flying out with
pride.
