10-YEAR CELEBRATION
FOR FOODIE FAVOURITE
SABIC has committed to a multi-million
pounds investment in the maintenance of
its world-class Teesside chemical facilities
in 2020 that will involve 2,000 contractors
as well as its own 500-strong workforce.

he Bay Horse, the restaurant voted the
region’s best by Tees Business readers,
is celebrating its 10th birthday.
Situated in Hurworth, near Darlington, The
Bay Horse has won a string of awards since
owners Marcus Bennett and Jonathan Hall
opened the gastropub in 2008.
Along with being voted the region’s
number one restaurant by Tees business
leaders, the long list of accolades for the
foodies’ favourite has included the Michelin
Bib Gourmand, while Marcus was awarded
Gastropub Chef of the Year.
The Bay Horse has also been listed in The
Mail on Sunday’s top 50 places for Sunday
lunch, The Times’ top 50 gastropubs, the
inspectors’ choice in the Michelin Pub Guide
and has regularly featured in dining bibles
such as The Good Food Guide and the UK
Michelin Guide.
The past 10 years have seen Marcus
and Jonathan open two more equally
popular restaurants, Muse and Cena, both
on Yarm High Street. They now employ a
team of more than 100 serving in excess
of 2,500 meals per week across their
three restaurants and are set to open The
Devonport Hotel in Middleton One Row
following a major refurbishment.
Marcus said: “The Bay Horse was our first
joint business venture and continues to hold
a special place in our hearts.
“The last 10 years have flown by and we’ve
enjoyed every minute. We’re so grateful to all
our customers, whether they be regulars or
those passing through, and want to say a big
‘Thank you’ to them.”
To celebrate the 10-year milestone, a
special dinner will be held at The Bay Horse
on Friday, September 28 featuring a pre-
dinner glass of fizz, canapes and a three-
course dinner of classic Bay Horse dishes.

Weatherall has let a 9,800-sq ft unit,
located in a prominent roadside
position on the corner of Red Barns
Way and McMullen Road in Darlington.
Euro Car Parts trading as Andrew
Page, one of the UK’s largest
distributors of quality vehicle parts,
workshop equipment and tools, has
taken the space on a 10-year lease.
Acting on behalf of landlords,
Minerva Pension Administrations,
Sanderson Weatherall let the space,
which is perfectly located close to
Bristol Street Motors, Tees Valley
Mitsubishi, Skoda Darlington, SG Petch,
Sims Suzuki and several other car
dealerships that operate on McMullen
Road.
LINGFIELD POINT SOLD IN £44M DEAL
A massive property deal has seen Darlington
business park Lingfield Point change hands
in a £44m acquisition.
New owner, real estate investment
manager, Frogmore, purchased Lingfield
Point on behalf of an investment fund it
manages.
The 85-acre business park is currently
home to 51 businesses in its award-winning
office spaces. It also includes warehousing
and commercial premises including a café
and child care nursery.
A marketing agency is proving there
are no limits to growth with a recent
expansion.
Darlington-based Go Limitless is on
track to more than double its turnover in
just under 12 months, and demand for
its services – including web design and
digital marketing – has seen the business
take on a further three staff.
The company has expanded into bigger
office space at Darlington’s Lingfield Point
to accommodate its growing team.
£120M LOGISTICS
CENTRE ON WAY
A £120m deal has been agreed for a
1.5m-sq ft logistics fulfilment centre in
Darlington which its owners believe will
be one of the most advanced buildings of
its type in the UK.
Tritax Big Box REIT has exchanged
contracts for the forward-funded
development, which will be based at Link
66 in Darlington, an emerging logistics
location situated on the eastern edge of
the town at the junction of the A66 and
A1150.
