Apprentices, The Expanded Metal
Company
Hartlepool-based mesh specialist The
Expanded Metal Company has invested in
its future workforce by taking on four new
apprentices.
Michael Snowdon, Kalem Ainsley and
Rhys Edwards from Hartlepool have joined
The Expanded Metal Company as apprentice
machine setters and will support in the
manufacture of metal meshes for use across
a wide range of applications and sectors.
In addition, Hartlepool-born Max
Tennant has been appointed as a toolroom
apprentice. In his role, Max will gain a variety
of skills in tool manufacturing, maintenance,
development and testing activities.
The apprentices are working towards
industry standard qualifications including
BTEC National Diploma, PEO Level 2,
Functional Skills ICT, Employment Rights
and Responsibilities and NVQ Level 3 at The
Technical Academy at East Durham College.
Their apprenticeship programme will help
Michael, Kalem, Rhys and Max gain hands-
on skills at The Expanded Metal Company’s
25,000 sqm site in Hartlepool, and this will
be combined with classroom-based learning.
Gabriel Iancu and Paul Adgar, Stadium
Group
Electronics technology manufacturer Stadium
Group has appointed Gabriel Iancu as quality
and test manager and Paul Adgar as senior
test and technical engineer at the Hartlepool
plant.
Gabriel, pictured right, has vast experience,
including having led the test engineering
team responsible for a range of processes at
ZT TFW Automotive.
Paul, left, returns to Stadium Group having
previously worked at the company as a
senior test engineer, to help Gabriel as he
shapes his quality and test team.

A new general
manager has been
appointed to lead
the team at a
popular hotel.
Rob Warren
will bring more
than 25 years’
experience of the
industry to his new
role at Teesside’s Hardwick Hall Hotel, near
Sedgefield.
The former general manager at Harrogate’s
The Yorkshire Hotel joins the venue following
a major refurbishment.
The four-star hotel, set in Hardwick
Country Park, is also home to the acclaimed
Rib Room Steakhouse and Grill and is
renowned for holding large scale balls and
events.
Matty Hynes, Sapere
Teesside half marathon man Matty Hynes
is hoping to go the distance in his new role
with a Stockton-based software development
company.
Matty has joined fast-growing Sapere,
which recently moved into new offices to
accommodate its expanding team following
a recruitment drive, as its new business
development manager.
The runner has an impressive athletic
CV including representing Great Britain in
European and World Championships and
being ranked number two behind Mo Farah.
He’s tasked with continuing Sapere’s
strong growth and building the company’s
presence in the North East and beyond.
Ashleigh Baker, Bannatyne Spa Ingleby
Barwick
The Bannatyne Group has appointed an
experienced manager to open and run the
new spa at its Ingleby Barwick health club.
Ashleigh Baker has been with the company
for seven years, beginning as a therapist
at the Darlington spa and progressing to
manage the facility.
Ashleigh, who is trained in all the
treatments offered at Bannatyne Spa, is
joined by senior spa therapist Hannah
McDougal and spa therapists Louise Briggs,
Elisha Hughes-Bunn and Emily Lockwood.
Phil Heathcock, Cleveland Bridge

experienced finance professional Phil
Heathcock to its executive management
Team to support the ongoing development

Joining as chief financial officer and
company secretary, Phil has 25 years’ finance
industry experience, including at senior
level across a range of sectors including
engineering, oil and gas and pharmaceuticals
for a number of established and growing
businesses.
Phil is a well-known member of the
North East business community, having
begun his career in Tees Valley and training
and qualifying to Association of Chartered
Certified Accountants professional standards.
