RMS Recruitment latest firm to sponsor
Tees Businesswomen Awards
A
n award-winning recruitment agency
is the latest company to show
its support to the first-ever Tees
Businesswomen Awards.
Darlington-based Resource Management
Solutions (North East) has sponsored the
Best Newcomer category for the eagerly-
awaited awards ceremony, to be held at
Wynyard Hall on Thursday November 8.
Family-run RMS was formed by
entrepreneur Carole Martin in 2000 and she
has grown the firm from scratch to a team of
32 with 12 operations around the UK.
The firm’s recently-appointed operations
manager Matthew Telling said: “The obvious
link for us is that RMS was founded and
is currently led by a very inspirational
businesswoman in Carole Martin.
“We’re an ethical business, we do
things the right way, and we see this as an
opportunity to inspire the next generation.
“We also think it'll be a really good
vehicle for RMS to go out to the business
community and say, ‘This is who we are’.
“There are some exceptional
businesswomen doing some brilliant things.
Their achievements should be celebrated,
which is why we’re really proud to be part of
the very first Tees Businesswomen Awards.
“We’re very much looking forward to
meeting the other sponsors and guests for
what promises to be an inspirational event.”
After forming the company in 2000, Carole
soon appointed her brother Leon Butt as
finance director, followed by Leon’s wife Nikki
as HR and performance manager.
With its head office in Darlington
employing 18 staff, RMS also has 11 on-site
offices across the UK employing a total of 32
people.
Nikki added: “The businesswomen awards
is a very exciting concept and something
we’re delighted to be involved with.
“Carole started the business on her own,
with no cash investment, so this underpins
a lot of the reasons why we want to sponsor
women in business.
“We’re a local independent company from
Darlington and we’ve been based in the town
for 17 years, so we’re always looking at ways
to get involved in local initiatives like this.”
RMS, which has enjoyed year-on-year
growth since its formation, was named as
one of the 50 fastest-growing North-East
businesses by Ward Hadaway two years
running in 2016 and 2017 and last year was
awarded best Specialist HR and Recruitment
Company in the 2017 North-East Enterprise
Awards.
Meanwhile, managing director Carole was
By Martin Walker
recently awarded an Entrepreneurial Spirit
gong in the Best of Darlington Awards 2018.
Nikki added: “We’re very experienced in
client servicing, our client tenure averages
10 years and we’re very well-respected as an
ethical business within our current network.
“We have a 97% client retention ratio,
which is something we’re really proud
about. Our business has grown through
recommendation, which is testimony to our
capability of adding value.”
Since the firm’s inception in 2000, RMS
has also helped to raise thousands of pounds
for charity and voluntary organisations.
RMS is currently working closely with
PTSD Resolution – a young pioneering charity
which focuses specifically on tending to the
psychological difficulties suffered by veteran
members of the armed forces and their
families – as its charity of choice, and has
so far raised £20,000 for PTSD by taking on
challenges such as the Wainwright’s Coast to
Coast Walk and the Simplyhealth Great North
Run.
