Standards of cleanliness are key to Woods Bros winning fresh Newmedica contract

Teesside cleaning company’ s commitment to the highest standards of work has won a major new contract with a company that carries out medical work, including surgery.
Woods Bros Cleaning Contractors is celebrating after seeing its two-year contract with Newmedica renewed directly with the company for a further three years.
Company founder Jack Woods said:“ It’ s an important moment for us because it says something about the standards of cleaning that Woods Bros delivers.
“ Newmedica is a national company with many sites and the natural route for them might have been to agree a cleaning contract at a national level.
“ But having seen our service over the past two years at its centres in Newcastle and Middlesbrough, it was keen to extend its contract with us.
“ That means a lot to us because we have to deliver the highest levels of clinical cleanliness and it shows we are a company delivering that standard.”
While the Newmedica level of cleanliness is exacting for any company, it is not unique for Woods Bros, which

Such standards would be impressive for a company if that company was longestablished and had major funding behind it, but it’ s so much more eye-catching that 28-year-old Jack began Woods Bros only seven years ago, when he first started the business with his mum, Susan.
He said:“ She’ d worked in domestic cleaning for quite a few years and I started off doing exterior cleaning when I was 20.
“ When I started getting a contract or two for my work, they also asked if I did interior cleaning as well, so it made sense to work with my mum, and it just grew from there.
“ The big step was to employ other people as the business grew.
“ I remember taking on our first two people and all of a sudden you have a new level of pressure and responsibility, but we adjusted. It grew from there and we now employ 70-plus staff.”
The key to Woods Bros’ success has been its commitment to service delivery and, in particular, the quality of that service.
Jack said:“ It’ s a fairly low entry bar to cleaning services and there’ s a lot of competition, so pretty much from the start we wanted to make ourselves stand out by the quality of what we delivered.
“ For that reason, we invested in training and accreditations and that has paid off because we have the reputation we have now.”
Fully insured, Woods Bros has earned one accreditation after another- ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001.
