Amie said 2026 was not only significant due to the sesquicentenary but had also been a“ landmark year” that saw record revenue growth following a successful rebrand in 2025.
“ We have seen our revenue increase by 19 % in the financial year 2026 and we are seeing that again this year, as we are up 14 % versus the same period last year,” she said.
Erica and Amie also took the opportunity to thank several individuals and businesses that had supported Jacksons in recent years.
These included Martin Peagam, a local historian who has been helping Jacksons curate its history as part of the 150-year celebrations.
Martin, who attended the event with his hearing dog Inca, has also inspired Jacksons colleagues to choose Hearing Dogs for Deaf People as its charity of the year in 2026.
Erica said:“ With Martin’ s help, we have
been able to find out some very useful information about our connection to Teesside University.”
She explained Teesside University started life as Constantine College in 1916, when Joseph Constantine pledged £ 40,000 to the development of a college he wanted to focus on metallurgy and shipbuilding – and strictly not arts!
Gilbert Jackson, the firm’ s founding father, was present at meetings about the development of this college and he drew up the legal papers relating to Constantine’ s £ 40,000 pledge that enabled the college to be born.
Erica also outlined the firm’ s involvement with Teesport and how its history was intertwined with Teesside establishing itself as the region that built the world, with steel firm Dorman Long building Sydney Harbour Bridge and many other prominent global structures.
Its shared anniversary with Middlesbrough Football Club and Alexander Graham Bell’ s invention of the telephone was also part of the lively discussion.
