New era dawns for BC & T and P & I
UNDER ONE ROOF
It’ s a team photo, below, that tells a story of growth, ambition and collaboration.
Look closely at the T-shirt logos and you’ ll see two: BC & T Consultants and P & I Design.
It’ s confirmation that after months of preparation, the P & I team has now moved from across the Thornaby railway tracks to join the BC & T team at its impressively refurbished Ash House HQ, near Stockton Riverside College.
Taken at the entrance to Ash House, the picture shows just how both teams have grown over the years – and symbolises a togetherness that will serve clients well.
BC & T are multi-disciplinary consulting engineers providing process, mechanical, civil, structural and electrical, control and engineering services to clients across the globe.
It has an established track record in providing design solutions across the petroleum, chemical and LPG sectors, with services including site surveying, 2D and 3D design, project management and tank inspection and repair.
P & I Design, meanwhile, is a specialist process and instrumentation company that will bring additional process, control system and functional safety capability to BC & T.
Along with Warrington-based engineering consultancy JM Dixon Associates, they’ re all proud to be part of the Limestone Group – a holding company that specialises in serving the tank storage, petroleum, chemical and LPG sectors.
Now, with BC & T and P & I under the same roof, the collaboration that already existed between the two companies moves on to another level.
And according to BC & T general manager Joe Melville, the advantages of having both in the same space is proving its worth.
He told Tees Business:“ From what we’ ve seen, and the feedback that we’ ve
had, everyone’ s stable, comfortable and happy to be in the same space.
“ It’ s all about consolidation and togetherness in business, both companies working together. We already did that, but this office provides a much more collaborative space.
“ It makes communication much more streamlined. We can drop into the meeting rooms and discuss things around the table, so it breaks down the barriers of Teams and phone calls. And it’ s assisted with cross-company aggregation generally.”
You’ ll find the BC & T and P & I teams on floor two of Ash House, with the ground and first floors being refurbished soon to include meeting rooms, a kitchen and even a fitness room.
And while Joe says the team photo doesn’ t include everyone – there’ s space for around 40 people on floor two now – it illustrates the direction of travel.
He said:“ It shows that we have a lot of talented engineers and individuals within the company and it really is about our people. Both firms were born out of startups – there were points when both were just two or three people – so to see them

at that scale now is tremendous. There’ s a lot of positivity around that photograph.” The photo includes everyone from new recruits to Dave Regan, a certified functional safety engineer who’ s been with P & I for decades.
But as the expansion continues under the Limestone umbrella, it’ s likely the next team snap will include even more colleagues.
He said:“ Our continuing expansion means we’ re always on the lookout for future engineers to join the business.
“ With the way we’ re structured, and with BC & T and P & I being in the same building, it means that more than ever, we can offer clients a one-stop shop- one entity where they can get the whole service level offering from across the group, with Limestone as the conduit to ensure alignment and synergy between all three companies.
“ There are some huge engineering companies out there, of course, but to get to the point of having around 50 engineers within the group, including JM Dixon, means we’ re already a sizeable organisation.”
