GIVING BACK
Helping hand – greenfingered volunteers lent a hand at Anchor’ s Millbeck care home, St Cuthbert’ s Church and Fox Rush Community Woodland.
It’ s all about taking time away from the day-job and doing something completely different that benefits others.
community effort, health and social care and early years teams from Stockton Riverside College also revamped the outdoor space at Anchor’ s Millbeck care home in Norton- a way to say thank you to the home for the work placement opportunities they provide for college students.
Funding and volunteers, generously provided by Foresters Financial, helped on the day, covering the cost of materials and garden furniture for the care home, while local business Roundhouse Fencing and Gardens gave their time and labour to lay a new path.
As evidence of the impact the Time for Tees initiative has, Louise Morley, Anchor’ s regional support manager, said:“ We’ d like to say a heartfelt thank you to the tutors from Stockton Riverside College for their hard work and kindness in helping to transform our garden at Millbeck.
“ Their support has made a real difference to our residents and it was wonderful to see the community come together to create such a special outdoor space for everyone to enjoy.”
Grant, who was putting in the heavyduty work himself at Foxrush Farm Community Woodland, said:“ It is fantastic to once again see colleagues making a real impact, giving their time to projects where they can clearly see the results of their efforts.
“ The Tour de Tees is a great addition to the mix and we hope to do it again next year.”
He added:“ I am immensely proud of the way colleagues continue to embrace Time for Tees and we are hugely appreciative of all the organisations that have welcomed and supported us in our efforts.”
