Stockton ready to take first steps in oncein-a-generation regeneration journey

Five years of transformation will climax with the opening of Stockton Waterfront urban park, providing uninterrupted access from the High Street to the River Tees.

Stockton Waterfront is four times the size of Trafalgar Square and features an amphitheatre, central stage area and large oval lawn capable of hosting specialist markets, festivals, performances and large-scale events.
The new space will attract audiences from across the North-East and beyond and the completion of this exciting project marks a pivotal moment in the town’ s regeneration journey, with clear and immediate implications for investment and commercial growth.
This year will showcase the scale and ambition of the Stockton Waterfront development.
The urban park will welcome visitors to celebrate Armed Forces Day across the weekend of June 20 and 21.
Thousands of visitors are expected to attend the celebrations, kicking off a packed events programme including the summer-favourite Stockton International Riverside Festival( SIRF) and the return of the fireworks display in November.

A five‐year transformation, delivered The Waterfront’ s opening marks the culmination of a five‐year transformation of Stockton town centre after the demolition of Castlegate Shopping Centre and the Swallow Hotel in 2022.
In their place is a bold and radical development that directly reconnects the High Street with the River Tees, opening up access for residents, visitors and businesses alike.
