Teesside Business Spotlight:

A conversation with Jamie Keith

Sanderson Weatherall recently bolstered its Teesside presence with the appointment of Jamie Keith as partner in the Holiday Parks and Alternatives team.
We sat down with Jamie to discuss his specialist background, the firm’ s growth trajectory and his vision for the region’ s leisure sector.
Q: You officially joined the Sanderson Weatherall Teesside team in March. What was it about the firm that felt like the right next step for your career? Jamie: Sanderson Weatherall has a longstanding reputation for professional credibility across all their services. What really drew me in was the firm’ s current momentum. They are in a clear period of growth and their recent acquisitions show aspiration. I wanted to be part of that energy and contribute my specialist expertise to help the firm reach those goals.
Q: Your role as partner focuses on‘ Holiday Parks and Alternatives.’ For those unfamiliar with the term, what does your day-to-day look like? Jamie: It’ s a dual-capacity role involving both agency work and valuations. Essentially, I’ m here to grow our market share in niche sectors. While many people think of commercial property as just offices or retail, my world involves everything from holiday and residential parks to visitor attractions, marinas and garden centres. It’ s about providing high-level advisory and valuation services to a very specific, highvalue asset class.
Q: You’ ve been involved in some incredibly high-profile mandates, including expert witness cases and singleasset visitor attractions valued at over £ 100m. How does that experience benefit your clients in the north? Jamie: Over the last decade, I’ ve been fortunate to work on complex corporate and portfolio projects. This specialist label comes from immersion in the leisure trade. Whether it’ s a pub, a petrol filling station or a massive holiday park, these assets require a nuanced understanding of traderelated value. My background as an RICS Registered Valuer allows me to provide that expert lens, which is vital for high-stakes mandates and portfolio advisory.
Q: Teesside and the wider North-East is seeing a lot of transformation. What are your specific goals for the department here? Jamie: My primary focus is to build on Sanderson Weatherall’ s existing success as a leading adviser in the holiday parks space. I’ m also looking forward to working closely with my colleague, Philip Waite, in the alternatives team. Together, we want to establish ourselves as the go-to advisers in the North-East, ensuring that local and national operators have access to the best possible market intelligence and valuation expertise right here in Teesside.
Q: Finally, what is it about the Holiday Parks & Alternatives sector that excites you the most right now? Jamie: The diversity. One day I’ m looking at a luxury marina or a hotel, the next I’ m involved in a residential park project. These sectors are incredibly resilient and are currently undergoing significant professionalisation. Being at the forefront of that, helping clients navigate growth or exit strategies in such a dynamic market is exactly where I want to be.
