Brian Mazzey, Southern Asset Management Southern Asset Management has appointed Brian Mazzey as its new general manager, marking another important step in the company’ s continued growth and long-term development.
Brian joins SAM with a wealth of experience in project management and operational leadership, having built an impressive career across some of the industry’ s most respected organisations, including Marconi, Fujitsu Network Communications and most recently, CityFibre.
Throughout his career, Brian has demonstrated exceptional expertise in leading complex infrastructure projects, managing budgets and delivering results across multiple build areas.
Responsible for coordinating internal resources and build partners to ensure the flawless execution of projects while maintaining strict financial controls, his experience also spans performance measurement, risk management, contractor payments through CEMAR and NEC3 and the successful delivery of projects in compliance with legislation, health and safety standards and client expectations.
Brian’ s appointment signals a strong future for Southern Asset Management as the business continues to expand its services and reinforce its position as a trusted industry leader.
Associate partners, Clive Owen A leading accountancy has appointed seven associate partners as part of a newly created leadership development programme designed to support the next generation of senior leaders.
The appointments are part of Darlington-based Clive Owen’ s new associated partner pathway, which recognises individuals already making a significant leadership contribution while providing a clear route towards partnership.
Those appointed as associate partners are existing team members Angela Mikola,
Brad Haywood, Elizabeth Layfield, Leanne Leftley, Liz Rothery, Rebecca Davison and new recruit Suzanne Layfield.
Suzanne joined the firm in March 2026, bringing significant experience in audit and assurance.
Alongside the associated partner pathway, the firm has also introduced a partner track programme to provide greater transparency and support for those preparing for potential partnership in the future.
Established in 1983, Clive Owen has grown from a small sole trader operation into a dynamic firm with five offices in Darlington, York, Durham, Middlesbrough and Newcastle, and a workforce in the region of 150 colleagues.
Henri Butler, Baines Jewitt Henri Butler from Hutton Rudby has joined Stockton-based Baines Jewitt, which is one of the largest firms of independent chartered accountants, business advisers and tax experts in the Tees Valley.
Having recently graduated from Durham University, Henri is just starting out on his professional career journey. His move into accountancy is a major departure from his degree in Biological Sciences.
Despite his change in career path, Henri is putting his analytical skills and attention to detail to good use as a trainee chartered accountant with Baines Jewitt.
As part of his three-year professional training programme, Henri is working towards becoming an Associate Chartered Accountant( ACA) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales( ICAEW).
As well as earning a wage and gaining new skills in the workplace, Henri receives support from specialist training company Kaplan Financial.
Yasmin Bambrough and Rebecca Hutton, Azets Azets has further grown its audit and tax services for companies and individuals in the North-East with four new hires.
Yasmin Bambrough( pictured left) joins as audit senior at the UK top 10 accountancy and business advisory firm, with Rebecca Hutton( pictured right) as audit associate.
Yasmin, who was previously with PwC, and Rebecca, from Clive Owen, work out of Azets’ Teesside office.
Azets employs more than 300 people, with 16 partners, in the North-East, providing tailored accountancy, tax and advisory services to help businesses and individuals.
