New development to bring up to 1,000 new jobs
Work is underway to create a new 54-acre development site that’ s set to bring high-quality businesses and jobs to Eaglescliffe.
The development, called Teeslink, will offer a total 775,000 sq ft, featuring a range of accommodation to suit a variety of businesses. Unit sizes range from 3,000 sq ft to 500,000 sq ft.
The land was purchased by Stocktonon-Tees Council in 2021 with money from the Tees Valley Mayor and Combined Authority’ s Indigenous Growth Fund( IGF). It’ s expected that, once completed, the development will create up to 1,000 new jobs.
There are excellent transport links available, with the site adjacent to Eaglescliffe railway station and one mile from the A66. Work to complete a new cycleway on nearby Durham Lane has also begun.
Teeslink will be delivered on a siteby-site basis by Rula Developments, which was chosen by the council after a competitive tender process.
“ It’ s really exciting to see works underway at Teeslink, which will be a vital employment site and will give the local economy a real boost,” said the council’ s cabinet member for regeneration and housing, Councillor Richard Eglington.“ Eaglescliffe is already home to a range of huge businesses and with the strong transport links, including the redevelopment of Eaglescliffe station and new cycleways, it’ s easy to see why it continues to attract investment.
“ Stockton-on-Tees is the economic powerhouse of the Tees Valley. We’ re a business-friendly borough and we welcome all approaches from those interested in coming to Stockton-on-Tees or who would like to find out more.”
Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen said:“ If we’ re going to keep winning new investment and backing our brilliant local businesses to grow, we need first-rate space that gives them room to expand while attracting ambitious new firms to the region.
“ With the transformation of the station making great progress, this project will cement Eaglescliffe as a key location for industry and good-quality jobs, and it’ s great to see spades in the ground and real progress being made.”
Anthony Clitheroe, development director at Rula Developments said:“ We are delighted to appoint locally based, Seymour Civil Engineering to commence site preparation works for Teeslink.
“ This strategically important development site will provide much needed state-of-the art logistics and warehouse accommodation with high ESG credentials while also supporting significant new job creation.”
Plans – Rula Developments’ managing director Ben Ward, Councillor Richard Eglington, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’ s cabinet member for regeneration and housing, Anthony Clitheroe, development director at Rula Developments, and Mal Bell, operations director at Seymour Civil Engineering.
Mal Bell, operations director at Seymour Civil Engineering, said:“ As a locally based contractor, we are proud to be playing a key role in bringing forward a development of such strategic importance to Stockton-on-Tees.
“ We are already working closely with project stakeholders and look forward to strengthening these relationships as we deliver a high-quality scheme that enables Teeslink to reach its full potential.
“ Alongside this, we are proactively creating opportunities through local employment, skills, training and STEM engagement, establishing this project as the starting point for long-term benefits for the area.”
