Insight – to give businesses the legal advice they need, Helen believes lawyers need to understand context, priorities and the bigger picture.
This isn’ t about headcount. It’ s about a collaborative and considered culture, rooted in shared values and ambition.” upholds professional standards.
The firm is being established as a fully regulated practice and is authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
The intention isn’ t to reinvent the law, it’ s to apply it properly and to move with the businesses that it supports in doing so.
Pneuma Legal sits within the newly formed business services division of Pneuma Group, a Teesside-based group that supports and invests in businesses across a range of sectors, locally, nationally and internationally. For Helen, that’ s really important.“ Being part of a group that thinks long term, and puts values and people first, gives us space to create something really responsibly,” she says.“ This isn’ t about rushing or scaling for the sake of it. It’ s about long-term investment in both the business and legal sectors.”
And as she enthusiastically outlines her vision, the motivational words on the wall – integrity, humanity, ambition, innovative, energetic – reflect her and the group’ s philosophies.
The parent company of Middlesbroughbased video games developer Double Eleven, Pneuma Group was set up in 2023 to help drive forward and pool the resources of brilliant Teesside businesses in a range of areas.
Those areas include hospitality, property, gaming, automotive and facilities management – and now you can add“ legal” to the roster.
Pneuma Legal is being shaped deliberately, from how work is delivered to how people work together and how clients experience legal support. Hierarchy is less important than culture, and ambition and purpose rank first.
Teesside SMEs are also very much part of the picture because often traditional businesses aren’ t built around their reality. But the firm’ s capabilities stretch well beyond this too, making the prospect really exciting.
And as the company grows, Helen seeks to attract other ambitious lawyers to a firm that wants to break the mould.
She said:“ We already have some brilliant support in place, which means we will hit the ground running. But the plan is to expand, and we want others to have a voice and help shape this with us, not just to step into something that already exists.
“ This isn’ t about headcount. It’ s about a collaborative and considered culture, rooted in shared values and ambition.”
Pneuma Legal is arriving with intent. And the foundations being laid are solid.
Helen added:“ It’ s about challenging the norms of what we’ re used to in the legal world in a safe and supportive way, and the Pneuma Group is the perfect place for that.
“ The last year has been fundamental for me in getting a real understanding of what businesses need. The market is telling us it is ready for this and the possibilities are huge.”
Pneuma Legal represents a genuine investment in relationships, both behind the scenes and between the teams that make it and those businesses it aims to support.
With those firm foundations in place, Pneuma Legal is moving to the next chapter of its story – focused on relationships, delivery and long-term impact.
