IN FOR THE SKILL
Students inspired as employers, leading voices and educators join forces for inaugural Tees Skills Careers Fair
Inspiring speakers, major employers and top regional organisations joined forces to deliver the inaugural Tees Skills Careers Fair – with almost 600 students from schools and colleges across the region packing the Riverside Stadium’ s hospitality suites for the landmark event.
Organised by Resolution Media and Publishing – the team behind Tees Business – in partnership with North East STEM Foundation, the careers fair saw places snapped up by a wide mix of education trusts, secondary schools and colleges eager to secure opportunities for their pupils.
Bringing together hundreds of ambitious young people aged 14-18, the first-of-itskind event connected students directly with employers, training providers and industry leaders from across Teesside.
The event built on the highly successful Tees Skills publication, which shines a spotlight on the wealth of opportunities available to local young people.
Students travelled from across the Tees Valley – including Darlington, Hartlepool, Guisborough, Brotton, Middlesbrough and Stockton.
They represented Prior Purslove and Stockton Sixth Form colleges( both part of Atomix Educational Trust), Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth, St Patrick’ s Catholic College and Trinity Catholic College
( both part of Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust), Our Lady & St Bede’ s, English Martyrs, St Michael’ s, St John’ s and Carmel College( all part of Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust), TTE( part of Middlesbrough College Group), Freebrough College( part of Northern Education Partnership) and Discovery Special Academy( part of Tees Valley Education Trust).

> A choice of presentations designed to spark ambition and open students’ eyes to future pathways. “ We’ re grateful to everyone partnering with us on the Tees Skills Careers Fair – especially sponsor North East STEM Foundation – and to the many inspiring business leaders who gave up their time to speak to the students. It’ s yet another reminder of the outstanding community spirit within our region.
“ Initial feedback has been glowing about the way the event brought together the business and education sectors to make such a positive and lasting impact on hundreds of young Teessiders.
