143 jobs created( 94 % growth) Proud to be Teesside-based and poised for further growth. Cavendish Northern is a pipework and mechanical installation factory operating from a state-of-theart head office and fabrication facility in Billingham.
After nearly doubling its workforce in one financial year from 152 to 295, it was a deserving winner of the Job Creation Large Business category.
And after accepting the award, HR business partner Rebecca Fortune told the audience that a shift in recruitment strategy was paying dividends.
She said:“ We’ ve recently taken on quite a lot of projects. We’ ve changed our whole recruitment strategy as well, so when we’ re advertising for vacancies, we’ re seeing a much larger number of people applying, making it a lot easier for us to recruit.”
Rebecca said the firm’ s main business was providing pipefitters, welders, platers and riggers to help clients progress their projects and complete them.
And hopes are high there’ ll be more good news soon. She added:“ I can’ t say too much but there are things on the horizon – we’ re hoping it’ ll be a lot more.“ We’ re still growing – it’ s very up and down because it depends on what projects there are in the local area, but it does seem like work is picking up on Teesside.”
And she says Cavendish is a proudly Teesside firm, with many of the current workforce from the area.
She added:“ It’ s great to get this award because it shows that everyone’ s hard work is paying off.
“ Everyone works so hard to keep winning more projects and grow the business, so it’ s nice to show that all the hard work is getting somewhere.”
