people who own flats and live in them or rent them out. However, our commercial department deals with a lot of landlords who own blocks of flats – so we act for both sides.
“ We have landlords worried about what it means for them once the reforms start to be introduced and they may need advice.
“ Some landlords may be considering whether or not to keep hold of their buildings. Others may be wondering whether they should proceed with the purchase of a block of flats they were considering buying.
“ And then you’ ve got the person who’ s looking to buy their first home and it’ s a flat and they are weighing up whether the flat and its lease is the right deal for them.
“ It’ s tricky because nobody knows when the reforms will actually kick-in. But it’ s safe to say that anyone looking to invest in blocks of flats or who is considering buying a leasehold property really needs sound advice.”
The perfect replacement for highly valued paralegal
Replacing vastly experienced staff isn’ t always easy.
But Punch Robson Solicitors is delighted with how new recruit Helen Bainbridge is settling into the residential conveyancing team in place of Alison Vines, who recently retired.
In fact, the appointment is something of a homecoming for Helen, who worked for the firm in the 2000s.
Punch Robson partner Katherine Eaton said:“ Following Alison’ s retirement, we recently recruited Helen, who is a chartered legal executive. She is a very welcome addition to the team and a very experienced pair of hands.
“ Alison was a vastly experienced conveyancing paralegal. She’ d been with the firm for a lot of years and was very much valued by the staff and the customers, which was lovely.
“ She happily retired in March and is now able to spend more time with her husband and the grandkids.”
Losing Alison’ s experience could have been a potential setback, but Helen immediately stood out as the ideal candidate.
“ We obviously wanted to recruit the right person who would gel with the team, and we’ ve been very lucky to recruit Helen,” said Katherine.
“ She’ s been known to us for years and actually worked for Punch Robson earlier in her career, so it’ s lovely to have her back.
“ Helen’ s slotted in perfectly because she already knows many of the people she’ s working with. It’ s like coming home and it feels like she’ s never been away!”
