FEATURE
Scale – the £ 950m SeAH Wind facility is the world’ s largest monopile production plant.
Complementing its maritime access, Teesworks also offers exceptional road and rail links connecting occupiers directly to the A19, East Coast Main Line and beyond. This integrated logistics network ensures efficient transport of goods and people across the UK and Europe.
Hornsea 3 anchors Steel River Quay as a flagship hub In a major endorsement, Ørsted’ s Hornsea 3 project has leased 300,000 sq m at Steel River Quay for monopile marshalling and pre-assembly. It’ s the first large-scale offshore wind agreement at Teesworks and a landmark moment for the UK’ s renewable energy supply chain.
The project will use the site for monopile manufacturing, component pre-assembly and wind turbine installation vessel( WTIV) loading, reinforcing Teesworks’ status as a national hub for offshore deployment.
This comes as the wider Hornsea 3 supply chain begins to accelerate, with the first monopile for the project recently completed by Haizea Wind Group in Spain, demonstrating how international manufacturing is converging with UK infrastructure through Teesworks.
The world’ s largest monopile factory Adjacent to the quay, the £ 950m SeAH Wind facility has become the world’ s largest monopile production plant, now in commercial production. As of July 2025, the site is fabricating giant monopiles for Ørsted’ s Hornsea 3 wind farm, with an annual capacity of up to 400,000 tonnes. Covering over 1.13m sq ft, the factory produces more than 150 monopiles a year, each up to 120m long and up to 3,000 tonnes in weight. From manufacture to quayside mobilisation, the entire process is contained within the Teesworks site, making it a fully integrated solution for offshore developers.
This development is creating 750 direct jobs, with a further 1,500 across the wider supply chain. Local employers such as British Steel, Severfield and Mammoet are already playing a central role, ensuring value remains in the region.
Built for industry, backed by clean energy innovation Teesworks is more than a single project – it’ s a clean energy ecosystem. Alongside offshore wind, the site supports cuttingedge investment in hydrogen, carbon capture and net zero technologies. It sits adjacent to the UK’ s first CCUS-enabled industrial cluster at Net Zero Teesside, led by bp and Equinor.
With more than 1.6GVA of secured power, plans are also advancing for high-tech AI data centre developments, attracting global industry leaders in the field.
With flexible plot sizes, robust utilities and first-rate infrastructure and services, Teesworks offers world-class infrastructure for modern industry. Every element is designed to enable large-scale operations while meeting the highest environmental standards.
A skilled workforce on the doorstep Through the Teesworks Skills Academy, employers gain access to more than
