Teesside at the heart of data centre revolution

WORDS: PAUL FRASER

From its roots in the North-East of England, Durata is making a monumental impact on the global stage, strengthening its position as a leader in the modular data centre industry.

With a strategic and rapid expansion that includes new in-house fabrication facilities and a major push into the US market, the Teesside-based company is not only meeting the soaring global demand for critical infrastructure but is also defining the future of data centre solutions.
This ambitious growth has not gone unnoticed. A leading resource for the global data centre industry, Data Centre Magazine, recently named Durata one of the top 10 companies driving the future of modular data centres globally, placing them alongside major names in the industry such as Huawei, Vertiv and Schneider Electric.
This significant accolade comes on the heels of the company’ s expansion into Atlanta, Georgia, and highlights its commitment to delivering innovative, scalable and sustainable infrastructure solutions worldwide.
Durata Group’ s CEO John McGee said:“ As demands on computing power soar, modular data centres are transforming the future of infrastructure and Durata is a leading name driving that change.
“ From concept to completion, we manage the full project lifecycle, simplifying complex projects and accelerating delivery globally.
“ We are proud to be shaping the next generation of data infrastructure in an increasingly connected world.”
The newly-formed Durata Group, comprising Durata Global and Durata Fabrication, delivers a fully integrated service that sets it apart from the competition.
At the helm are John and COO Alison McGee and the recent acquisition and investment in the company’ s vast in-house fabrication capacity is serving as a pivotal driver of the strategy.
Durata has grown its physical footprint to nearly 80,000 sq ft, including a dedicated fabrication space.
This includes its original 14,000 sq ft headquarters at Tees Advanced Manufacturing Park( TeesAmp), along with a newly-integrated 36,000 sq ft facility at Tursdale Business Park, which is complemented by another 27,000 sq ft unit right next door.
This massive investment allows Durata to control every step of the manufacturing process, from design and fabrication to final assembly.
The facilities are equipped with the latest CNC machinery and cobot robotics, ensuring every component is crafted with pinpoint accuracy, repeatability and speed, enabling the company to scale operations to meet any demand.
This integrated approach is a gamechanger for the industry. By building bespoke, high-density rack capacity modular data centres under one roof, Durata simplifies complexity for its clients and accelerates project delivery globally.
John said:“ Bringing everything in-house has ensured we’ re not just ahead of the curve, but defining it. We’ re setting the
