Fleet Factors celebrates five decades of quality, service and value

A

trusted Teesside firm that’ s driven its way to becoming a major national player is proudly celebrating its golden anniversary.
And Fleet Factors’ policy of investing in young talent looks sure to keep it on the right road for many years to come.
After 50 years of providing quality, service and value to the vehicle parts and refinish markets, Fleet Factors continues to hit the gold standard.
Back in 1975, Mike Hunter and John Smith set up a business supplying brake linings for lorries in Cargo Fleet, Middlesbrough.
It supplied fleets of vehicles, it was based at Cargo Fleet and the aim was to be fleet of foot – hence the name.
But nowadays it does so much more than provide its original three items – brake shoes, hydraulic hoses and clutches.
From its smart premises on the Skippers
Lane Industrial Estate – home since 1980 and just around the corner from its original Murdoch Road base – the Fleet Factors network now covers the whole of the UK and is a first-choice supplier to the truck and trailer parts and refinish markets.
It stocks well over 700,000 parts, has 26 main sites, operates more than 250 stores managed sites and runs more than 250 delivery vehicles.
Indeed, it’ s now one of, if not the, largest independent components distributor / supplier in the UK.
It was also crowned Tees Business of the Year at the inaugural Tees Business Awards in 2023.
Every new Fleet Factors van this year and onwards will have the classy new 50th anniversary logo on it – a nod to the company’ s origins and an eye-catching reminder of that“ quality, service, value” mantra.
