Jessica encourages greater support around education for equality and diversity within Teesside
For Jessica Gwaringa, CEO and founder of Moonrise 24 hour recruitment, equality and diversity is not just about putting a tick in a box.
“ It’ s something I am so passionate about – and I’ m keen to encourage more businesses across the region to think about their approach to equality and diversity, and not just talk about it,” she says.
As a healthcare employer, started in 2014 by Jessica, an experienced registered nurse and husband John, Moonrise provides domiciliary care and agency staffing in the North-East and beyond. But even as it continues to grow, Moonrise’ s commitment to inclusivity is at the forefront of everything it does for both staff and clients.
“ We are committed to making sure people – whether they are staff or clients – are not excluded in any way, at any time,” Jessica says.
“ At Moonrise, all employees are capable of achieving the same things, regardless of their background, age, abilities, ethnicity or their beliefs.
“ I hope that across the region other organisations are using diversity to its fullest. It is a positive that can reap many benefits.”
Jessica’ s firm belief is that if someone has the skills and the qualities for a job or they are willing to learn, they should be given an opportunity to train and enhance themselves in different ways. And that’ s exactly what Moonrise does.“ As a vibrant region I feel there is more to be done around education and support to help businesses with their equality and diversity policies and procedures,” Jessica says.
“ We live in a multicultural society on Teesside and it’ s important we embrace that.”
