construction company ’ s latest expansion is putting fire safety at the top of the agenda – helped by a tie-in with Cleveland Fire Brigade .
Meldrum Fire Engineering ( MFEL ) is the latest addition to the extensive portfolio of Meldrum Group , which offers its clients an extensive and complete end-to-end service – from designing jobs in-house to onsite delivery through its six delivery arms .
And thanks to a strategic alliance with Cleveland Fire Brigade Risk Management Services , MFEL can offer : > Fire pump design , commission , testing and maintenance . > Hydrant and monitor flow testing and maintenance . > Tactical ( silver ) level incident management . > Consultancy services .
This is in addition to the in-house services MFEL offers , which include fire door surveys , inspections , installation , maintenance and upgrades , full building fire compartmentation and compliance inspections , building fire safety and evacuation plans , which are fully drawn up by Meldrum ’ s in-house design team , and structural fire protection , including steel frame encasements and deflection heads . Other services include structural fire compound floors to service risers , passive fire protection to service penetrations , cast-in solutions to enable future services to pass through fire compartments while maintaining fire integrity and protection , smoke and air seals to internal and external building elements , acoustic solutions where sound attenuation is an important consideration , fire barriers in roof voids and above ceilings , underfloor barriers , and protected soffit solutions .
Following the Grenfell Tower disaster in 2017 , Meldrum recognised the need to ensure its passive fire protection was of the highest quality – and felt the best way to do it was to bring the capability in-house .
