Turnover in 2011 , just as Luis was taking over , was £ 82,000 . Within two years it had doubled , last year it was around £ 12.2m and this year , hopes are high it will top £ 18m .
It ’ s a remarkable success story but , says Luis , it ’ s the result of careful planning and investment in its infrastructure and people – and there ’ s more to come .
He said : “ Most businesses struggle to get past the £ 10m turnover mark , with many sitting between £ 1m and £ 6m .
“ Getting above £ 10m is a massive challenge because it requires huge changes in infrastructure and supporting functions – HR , finance , cash flow management , supply chain management , back-office infrastructure , things that fall outside the ability and experience of the business owner ’ s expertise in sales and delivery of its core service or product .

period of lower margins while navigating these new challenges .
“ But that ’ s what we ’ ve done , and it ’ s given us a solid foundation to build on , to where we ’ re looking to scale the business further .
“ When we realigned the structure last year , we identified a strong strategy for increasing sales and our team .
“ A £ 50m turnover in the next five years is our growth plan and we ’ ve identified various strategies to help us do that .”
Ambitious plans , therefore , but given recent progress , it ’ s ambition that ’ s wellfounded , with the team and infrastructure to deliver it .
JMAC Group was recently ranked 37th in a list of the North-East ’ s 50 fastestgrowing companies , reflecting a sustained focus on delivering tailored , industryleading solutions to clients across multiple sectors .
