Talk Cancer Teesside is a major new workplace campaign I ’ ve launched in partnership with Teesside Hospice to help Tees organisations build supportive workplaces that are “ cancer-friendly ”. If you ’ re wondering why , the sobering fact is that cancer will affect 50 % of us . Apply this to your workforce , and that ’ s 50 % of your employees .
Too often cancer is a taboo conversation in the workplace for employees and employers . But imagine your organisation being a workplace where your employees dealing with cancer directly or indirectly are supported , staff are trained and the organisation performs a purposeful role .
That ’ s the vision for Talk Cancer Teesside . I ’ m calling on businesses across the Tees region to make the vow to talk cancer in the workplace by signing up for this crucial campaign . As a proud trustee of Teesside Hospice , I ’ m delighted the charity will benefit from every company that signs up to Talk Cancer Teesside . I ’ m also grateful to Casper Group , OOK Agency , VIA Creative and Pankhurst Design for their support and goodwill in helping get the campaign rolling .
You can read more about the campaign and our launch event at a recent Tees Business LIVE on pages

While we ’ re grateful to Tees Business for its support with the campaign , it ’ s fantastic to see also the celebration of not one but two of their awesome annual awards – the Tees Businesswomen Awards and Best New Tees Business Awards – within these pages .
Teesside Hospice was the chosen charity at the Businesswomen Awards , which saw Intasite director Danielle Croce crowned the seventh Tees Businesswoman of the Year . Congratulations to Danielle , who has big shoes to fill as she follows in the footsteps of inspiring past winners Claire Preston , Sharon Lane , Jane Armitage , Chloe Clover , Kimberley Turner and Cathi Harrison .
In the cover feature , it ’ s lovely to read Danielle paying tribute to her grandmother , who gave her a muchneeded loan that helped get the Intasite inspiration off the ground .
There ’ s so much to read from a Who ’ s Who of local businesses in this 40th edition of Tees Business – all of it a reminder that , despite ongoing challenges , the Tees region continues to be a true business powerhouse we can all be proud to be part of .
