Local firm Alt Labs is leading on the TVCA-backed Tees Valley Labs – providing local firms with advice on how to grow their business .
Nine companies are taking part in The Stable – a sixmonth incubator taking businesses from early ideas and discovery through to market traction and funding – through the Tees Valley Labs programme .

The firm had previously struggled to find applicants but after receiving support from TVCA , around 40 people applied in just 24 hours .
Elliott said : “ I had a job for a year and wanted something a bit more secure in a thriving industry . That ’ s when I put in for the apprenticeship .
“ It ’ s the operations side of it I enjoy - the chemicals , the process of transferring them from tank to tanks , having the ships come in and the road tankers loading .
“ The training has been brilliant – they go through everything in fine detail . Everyone is friendly and getting on – everyone teaches you something new every day .”

Tees Valley Labs Leaders at exciting Tees Valley start-ups have benefited from an innovative new programme , providing advice and support on how to develop and grow .
Nine companies are taking part in The Stable – a six-month incubator taking businesses from early ideas and discovery through to market traction and funding – through the Tees Valley Labs programme .
The second cohort in The Stable have also recently begun their journey through the programme .
Running alongside The Stable is The Forge , a 12-week accelerator designed to take businesses from market traction and revenue generation to significant investment funding exposure .
As part of this programme , businesses will have the opportunity to apply for significant levels of grant funding to support future growth phases , with the aim of becoming investor-ready .
Tees Valley Labs is run by Middlesbrough innovation consultancy Alt Labs on behalf of TVCA and the Tees Valley mayor .
It has seen support for : - Up-and-coming Teesside gaming company Lynx Studios .
- Platvix , which is developing a one-stop platform solution for start-ups and investors – and automating investment processes using AI .
- Booksmrt – a company developing booking systems dedicated to the escape room industry .
- Assessable – a firm to help teachers reduce the amount of time they spend marking work , with the help of AI .
