British Steel helps shape SeAH Wind ’ s £ 900m wind plant
Incredible progress is being made in the building of one of the world ’ s largest offshore wind plants on Teesside with the help of British Steel sections . SeAH Wind ’ s £ 900m monopile manufacturing facility on the south bank of the River Tees at Teesworks is currently 90 % complete .
Once completed , the 800m-long building will be the world ’ s biggest monopile facility and the only one of its kind in the UK .
Each week , the 40m-high building will produce two to four monopiles – the structures which form the foundations of offshore wind turbines .

More than 100 representatives from local and national companies met in Hartlepool to hear about the opportunities offered by X-energy ’ s proposed nuclear new build project .
Businesses from across Teesside and the UK came together to learn how they can support the project , which aims to build on the region ’ s industrial heritage by providing a clean energy future .
X-energy , along with deployment partner Cavendish Nuclear , hosted around 70 companies to discuss the potential fleet production of its Xe-100 advanced modular nuclear reactors ( AMRs ).
Topics included the likely timescales , scope of contracts for companies of all sizes across multiple sectors and what is required to win business .
The event at Hartlepool College of Further Education highlighted the critical role regional and British engineering , manufacturing and construction companies can play in building the next generation of clean power production in Hartlepool and
development with the sections coming from the firm ’ s Teesside Beam Mill at nearby Lackenby .
Ben Cunliffe , British Steel commercial director for construction , said : “ It ’ s exciting to see the progress being made on this expansive development which was one of the largest projects in the UK this year .
“ This is a truly fantastic example of levelling up in the UK , with probably the largest regeneration area across the UK happening right on our doorstep in Teesside .”
When fully operational , it is expected 750 direct jobs and 1,500 further supply chain jobs are set to come from the manufacturing facility .

The event was followed by a workshop at the Wilton Centre , Redcar , focusing on how X-energy ’ s Xe-100 technology can be applied across the UK to directly decarbonise current and future heavy industry by providing high temperature steam .

HARTLEPOOL STATION BOOST A new platform to increase the number of train services at Hartlepool station has been completed and seen a successful first month in operation .
The £ 12m overhaul has seen the Tees Valley Combined Authority , Network Rail , Northern and Hartlepool Council work together to bring the station ’ s second platform back into use alongside a new footbridge .
A 53-tonne accessible footbridge complete with lifts has made journeys easier for passengers using the station , and the reopened stop will allow Northern to increase its services on the Durham Coast ( Middlesbrough to Newcastle via Hartlepool ).
